Q: Is it possible to recover all my old texts from my previous iphone?

I had an issue with my iphone 5S so Apple sent a new one. My cel provider suggested I back my phone up on iTunes so I did but I was hoping to recover all the texts from the old phone. The new phone is the same model as the old. There is no option to sync texts or sms when in itunes that I can see. Am I missing something or am I just SOL?

About backups in iCloud and iTunes - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204136 - "You can copy and save the data on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch by backing up your device in iCloud or iTunes. If you replace your device, you can use its backup to transfer your information to a new device."
