Power Outage on Installation

App Store said there was a Yosemite update.

I restarted it and during the update, the power to the neighborhood went out. This particular computer was not on a backup battery so it shut down.

Now, when I boot up, I get a progress bar and then it shuts down.

I held down D on book and ran that test but it didn't say anything.

It just keeps shutting down so I need some advice.

Attempt to do a PRAM reset and see if it launches. Click iMac SMC and PRAM reset for instructions. If it will not start up, then start in the Recovery Partition (Command + R) and open Disk Utility and run Repair Disk 2-3 times. If errors appear after the 2nd or 3rd attempt that mean the HD is damaged and must be replaced. If no errors appear, then quit DU an re-install OS X and attempt to update again. However I would STRONGLY consider getting a UPS for just this reason, power surges and sudden losses of power can be devastating to computers.

Please post back if you continue to have problems.
