I forgot my passcode on IPhone 4 so did a reset. Now it won't set up as no sim card. I want to use it on wifi etc so I don't have a sim card. Its out of contract so should be able to do with it as I want. Does anyone know what to do.
A SIM is required to activate it after restoring, updating, or erasing the phone. If it's carrier locked, it must be a SIM from the correct carrier. There is no way around that requirement.
You can remove the SIM after it's activated if you like, but it won't activate without one.

Just as an added FYI. The sim you use to activate, does not need to have active phone service on it. i.e no contract is necessary to activate it.
If you have an old sim from the carrier that no longer has service on it, that will work too as long as the sim is functional.
