selected photos don't show

I have an early Apple TV (first or second gen). It still works great, but I'm not able to select different photos to download to it.

On iTunes I've selected Apple TV under devices. Then I've selected the folder that I want download -Share Photos from: Photos (app). The problem is that my selected folder will not let me "Apply" it. It seems that any other of my Photos folders can be "applied", but not the one I want.

I'm stumped. Any suggestions?
