iphone wont connect to itunes or computer after failed update and restore

I was updating my iphone 6 last night when my laptop battery died. The iphone was in the process of extracting software and installing the update. When I reconnected the iphone "restore and update'' came up on itunes, I pressed this and error 53 came up half way through the process. I searched error 53 and the results told me to make sure I had the up to date itunes and that I was using the correct apple usb cable. I updated itunes last night and got the apple usb this morning. I then tried to connect to itunes but my iphone is not being recognised by the laptop or itunes. It also will not respond and is completely blank until I plug it into a socket usb charger when the connect to itunes screen appears. When I disconnect from the wall socket charger and try to connect to my laptop itunes the phone goes completely blank and isn't recognised by the laptop/ itunes.

Can somebody please help me I have been without a phone sine yesterday evening.

Hello annabel.ayres,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see from your post that while updating the software on your iPhone, your computer ran out of battery, and now your iPhone is unresponsive. I suggest that you put the iPhone into recovery mode and use the update option as outlined below. In the future, please ensure you have enough battery power when updating your iPhone as to avoid this occurring.

  1. Connect your device to a computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, you can borrow one, or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
  2. While your device is connected, force it to restart. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Don't release when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding until you see the Recovery mode screen.

  3. When you get the option to restore or update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

iTunes will download the software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode and you'll need to repeat steps 2 and 3 again.

Take care.
