I'm trying to purchase an album for a friend. I'm trying to gift it through iTunes, and I have about £20 apple ID balance on my account. However, when I try to click the gift item option, it prompts me to add a card or any other payment information.
Will the gift be paid for from my balance? Is it possible to buy someone a gift from apple ID balance?

You cannot use a gift card balance to buy a gift.
You must pay for the gift with a credit card.
You can't buy gifts (or gift an amount) from your account's balance (that can only be used to buy content for yourself), you will need to add a credit card to your account to be able to gift.
