pages won't share via email after OS 10.10.5 update

Question

after updating to OS 10.10.5 pages and numbers won't share files via email only via exporting first.

Having searched I see there was a previous problem with file names containing a / but these do not.

Pages '09 v4.3 won't share via Email — it was broken around 10.10.3 timeframe. Pages v5.5.3 does share by sending a copy.
