Solid State Drive to iMac 27 (late 2009)

I 'm thinking to replace my old hard drive with a new Solid State Drive in my iMac 27 inch (late 2009), will my computer work better? What kind of problems may occur doing that?

Thank you!

No, it won't work better. It will only perform file I/O faster which may provide some slight overall performance improvement as related to disk work. Like adding more memory, these only help if your work is bottlenecked by the HDD or having too little RAM.

The major problem you may incur is the installation if you aren't familiar with a substantial disassembly of an iMac. The minor problem will be the need for a special thermal sensor to fit on the SSD. You should be able to find them at OWC along with very good SSDs. You may also need a mounting device for the smaller sized SSD.
