I need to replace my internal drive to 1T for Macbook pro 2013 which one I need to buy

my macbook pro 15" wont start it goes to white screen then switch it self of . I was advice to take the drive out and connect it to another Mac to back up my files ! would that work !? plus is formatting the drive or replacing it will make the mac work !!??

It would be helpful if you indicated the EXACT model/year MBP that you have and the current OSX.


You can try Target Disk Mode:

But that assumes that the MBP will boot and stay into Target Disk Mode. If not, you would have to take out the drive and connect it to another Mac via USB. This of course assumes that your MBP is a non retina or an early 2013 retina MBP or earlier.


To trouble shoot your MBP, start with SMC and NVRAM resets:

Then try a safe boot:
