Sync playlist from iTunes to iPad mini

I have never had problems syncing before, but I do now! I have created a couple new playlists on iTunes and when I sync my iPad mini, it loads the songs, but not the playlists....I am not REAL technical, so if anyone can explain how to get this accomplished, I would very much appreciate it!
