How do I turn on the FM radio receiver in my iPod Touch 4G and iPhone 4GS?
My local news ran a story that all iPhone 2G and up, all iPod touch 3G, all iPads 2G and up, and some select iPod
Have an FM radio receiver chip built in the device, its required by US Federal Law. But, they are not enabled
This Law requires that all smart phones, and tablets to have an FM receiver built in to the device hardware.
Its not an app, and its not streaming over the internet, its a real FM radio receiver that receives over the air FM radio.
Most all other smart phone manufactures have enabled the FM in their devices. Apple refuses to because they think it will hurt iTune sales.
The news broadcast said the user can enable the FM radio their self. they wouldn't tell us how to enable it, in fear Apple would sue them.
they said its fairly easy to do. I searched the internet I could only find out how to unlock the FM chip in android phones, and tablets.
The local news also said the US government (FCC,and FEMA) is going to force apple to unlock the FM chips or they will not be able to sell iPhones, iPads, iPod touch until they do
This law, and its details can be found on the FCC's and FEMA's web sites
So, does anyone know to enable the FM receiver in my iPod Tough 4G?
Thank you.
