while i was chatting in whatsapp a message appeared in my screan and asked me to download the latest verison... i tryed to download but then asked me for a software update 6.1.6 ... i have iPhone 3gs and the 5.1.1 version on my phone... i dont know if I update the new sofrware version , and than download the new whatsapp , than in my new whatsapp are my chat history and photos still there ? write to me back soon pls... and sorry for my english xD
So then do what it says and update your phone to 6.1.6 and try again.;

To answer your questions, Whatsapp should back up history, depending on the app. I'd also recommend backing up the phone first. As for how to do the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. If you can’t update wirelessly, or if you want to update with iTunes, install the latest version of iTunes on your computer. Plug in your device to your computer. In iTunes, select your device. In the Summary pane, click Check for Update.

You should be backing up your phone to iTunes every few days, and you should have been doing this for as long as you have owned it.
i just did the backup on iTunes.. i think i just saw in steps there was Whatsapp something copying or smth like that... but let me tell you smth... i have iphone 3gs ... should i make the software update... and than can i download whatsapp ?

You did a backup, so for God's sakes man, just do it. Stop putzing around and update. you could have been updated and already chatting on WhatsApp by now.
If it's the iPhone 3GS, I do not think you are able to update to 6.1.6 update. I have tried updating that a few weeks ago on the first iPad and iPhone 3GS, but I think they discontinued software updates for those phones.

Incorrect. 6.1.6 is the last version supported for the 3GS and is still available for those devices.
cant download whatsapp cos i dont have iOS 6.1.6
