I have several photos in a slide show. When I right-click the slide show and choose to play the slide show, it does. With the slide show selected I click on File > Export and the "Export Slideshow" option (along with all other options) is grayed out. What am I doing wrong/how can I export my slideshow?

I was experiencing the same thing and saw the post from another reader/contributor about how he could see the Export button. I began thinking about how there was a difference in the Tools shown in the Slideshow area versus the Project area, and sure enough that is where the Export button was. Anybody else exploring solutions to this issue needs to simply make a Project and then select the photos and videos you want from Photos. Pick your music and any other transitions etc.. then use the Export button to make it a .M4V file. You can then move the .M4V file into a DVD burning software like Toast and voila. You now have a disc copy of your Photos Slideshow.
I just tried and did get the option to export.
But I notice that there's an EXPORT button in the top right corner of the screen, when you select your slideshow under Projects in the left Sidebar. Have you tried that?
If something does not work as expected, these are the first things I would try:
1. Quit the program, launch it again, and try again. Does it work now ->OK
2. If it does not work after quitting and relaunching, try rebooting your Mac.
