Sep 7, 2015 6:49 AM in response to ksimacby Linc Davis,Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then load a web page on which you would expect your password to be autofilled. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Sep 8, 2015 8:59 AM in response to Linc Davisby ksimac,I'm helping a friend with this problem and will be visiting him tomorrow. Just tried a dummy run on my Mac (no Autofill problem) but no text appeared in the Console window after opening the test page in Safari. Am I doing something wrong? Rather know what I am doing before I visit! Thanks again.

Sep 9, 2015 5:58 AM in response to ksimacby ksimac,Linc, apologies. Just got back from seeing friend's mac. Have established that Passwords, Usernames and Email address, all jump in. Problem seems to be name, address, etc. from Contacts. Created new contact card in Contacts but no joy - rebooted etc.
Lines below are from Console as you requested.
Apologies again. Thanks. Keith

Sep 12, 2016 11:01 AM in response to ksimacby Sorrytryagain,Look, if someone has this problem after a known power outage causes an accidental cold shutdown, just shut down and restart, first, to see if that solves it. This has happened to me before. Otherwise there is very little reason why a secure software command sequence like the macro that dictates password autofill function would quit working by itself. But several things happen during when the plug gets pulled inadvertently and the then the mac is started up again, first time around, to protect user security protocols. Otherwise, all this listing of pages of steps toward diagnostic or rectification of the problem are complicated and not strictly to the point, that is, getting the computer to function as it did before.
