external hard disk not found

Ever since I updated to Yosemite I have been unable to access my external hard disk. The mac does not recognise the external hard disk. What can I do?

MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), freedom tough drive (hard disk)
