Importing downloaded iTunes content into a new playlist

I just downloaded an opera to iTunes. It appears now in "My Music". However, the playlist I created for it now has no "Edit Playlist" option. I haven't a clue how to get the newly downloaded music into the playlist. It used to be a simple highlight and drag when both the new music and the playlist both appeared together. Is iTunes toying with me?!
