My MacBook Pro 15 Mid-2009 has a TOSLINK digital output on the analog headphone jack and it worked for years until an OSX update broken it. I want it back!

It's kind of ridiculous to see the driver support removed from my purchased device after years of service, only to see it being offered on the newly versions of the MBP.

I would like to have the driver support to be implemented back on the OSX. I used that to work on music and video edition. Why have this been removed and why haven't it been returned yet? Apple's quality is turning on a Microsoft. I will surely weight this on my next purchase.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)
