I am setting up family sharing for my 11 year old. It is asking that I add a credit card instead of debit card to verify that I am an adult. It is a Master card with a security code...why is this not suitable? I don't use any other credit cards so am unsure how to get iTunes to recognize my card as a credit card.

Because children can have debit cards.
But if your bank card is issued as a Master Card with a security code, is this still considered a debit card?
I have a couple of visa debit cards with security codes, so I'd assume master card do them as well.
Debit cards are not an acceptable iTunes payment method. See this article for approved payment methods.
I pay by debit card and that article says they are.
