Upgrade a 13" Early 2011 MBP to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1

I know my mac isn't under Apple's "supported by Windows 10" list, but I'm wondering if anyone has had any problems or success upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1 on a 13" Early 2011 MBP. Thanks!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Using MBP Early 2011.

Successfully installed Win10 on my MBP. Boots good.

Jumped into the upgrade without reading the support page first. It was too late when I found out our MBPs do not support win10.

However:

  • No bootcamp icon; actually, no Bootcamp Assistant can be found

which means I can't set the default boot device

  • Trackpad does not work as expected
    • No double tapping for right click
    • I haven't discovered how to right click. (help!)
    • Can't tap to click
    • But works ok for normal clicking/dragging
  • I'm not sure if it's just me (it could just be me), but the display isn't as sharp as in win8.

Otherwise, my MBP is usable. Just installed steam and tried DOTA2.

The problem is that i could not install WIndows via BC, i've tried all the possibilities, i get this error and can't get it work.

The way i installed was just by booting from the USB stick.

I have ISO of the windows and an USB Stick 8GB one and the iso is about 3-4gb. I don't have a dvd unit installed anymore.

Do you have any suggestions ?

Thank you very much for you help

This is an issue. Can you temporarily re-install an Optical drive?

From How to identify MacBook Pro models - Apple Support and MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) - Technical Specifications, the Model Identifier 8,1 is tied to a model with an Optical drive. You can try using an external Optical drive, but it may not work.

Please see the following links

That's exaclty how I have installed it 1st time, mounting the image and when booting pressing option to boot from usb and installed windows . . . . 😟 it was written EFI

I'll give it another try and if it doesn't work I will try with windows 8.1 but I think it's the same . . . everyone is complaining of no sound issues on windows 8+ .. . mabye there is no fix for my problem
