iPad2 audio stuttering through headphone jack

I just upgraded to the newest ios 8.4.1 and now all sound coming out of the headphone jack stutters badly. This wasn't a problem with previous versions of ios. Is there a fix that doesn't involve completely wiping the iPad?

iPad 2, iOS 7.1

If you are experiencing poor audio quality when using your iPad's headphone jack, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article - If your headset isn't working.
