my emails will not work with gmail?

my emails keep saying it cannot send the email due to the server Gmail being down?

this is not true as i can log in via the internet and its fine?

its says that Gmail is offline?

I'm using a iMac which is totally unto date

Go into Mail's Accounts preference pane, delete the Gmail account. Close Mail, reboot, open Mail, go back to the Accounts preference pane and add the Google account back. See if that will let you contact the Gmail server again.
