I have upgraded my mac pro to OS X 10.9.5 and my iphone 5s photos will not download when I connect. It says that it is locked by a passcade but I have entered the passcode in the phone before connecting

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.53 GHz)

How are you trying to download photos? iPhoto, iTunes...?

While I'm not a Mac user, it seems my Windows computer at times wants me to enter the passcode after I connect the device rather than connecting it unlocked. One of those quirks, but it could be similar on the Mac. Try connecting it locked and then enter the passcode when it asks and see what happens.
