RAW Photo Format for Panasonic DMC-G7 unsupported in compatibility update 6.06
Hi all,
I'm using Photos for Mac with the RAW compatibility update version 6.06.
My camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7(G70), and I prefer shooting in RAW.
According to the update notes, the RAW format of the G-7 should be supported since the RAW Compatibility Update 6.04.
When I open Photos, the pictures I imported as RAW/JPEG pairs show up with the "J" icon on the bottom left. However, when I try to switch to RAW format for one of the images, an error message occurs telling me that the respective RAW format wasn't supported.
Why is this? The release notes for compatibility update 6.04 very clearly list "Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G7" as supported camera. I wonder whether it could have happened that the format is only supported if the camera identifier in the EXIF of the picture is EXACTLY "Panasonic LUMIX DMC G-7". This would be most unfortunate, because the exact same camera is sold in different countries with slightly different names, but these models are technically identical. Mine, for example, was bought in Germany as "Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G70" ("70" rather than "7"), which is also what it says in the EXIF info of the pictures. The format itself, however should be absolutely interchangeable, no matter whether the camera is called G70 or G7.
Please, someone from Apple, investigate into this issue...
