Without some more detail from you, there's no way of telling (unless you want a flippant answer)..

  1. What do you mean a CD doesn't download properly? What does it do that you find unacceptable?
  2. What do you mean by "timely"? Do you mean that ripping a CD takes too long?

If your iTunes is taking a long time to import (rip) a CD into iTunes, then check if you have Error Correction turned on, because using error correction when importing CDs will increase import times. Only use Error Correction if you are experiencing problems with the audio quality of your imported CDs. Otherwise, leave it off.

Use ALT+E and then F (or Edit/Preferences [1.]) to open General Preferences (2.). Then choose Import Settings (3.) and then make sure Error Correction (4.) is turned off:

Once the songs are in iTunes and you have added them to your Playlists as desired, connect the iPhone and wait for it to Sync.

  1. Does any part of the Playlist transfer, or if it was already on your iPhone, has any part of it updated?
  2. Do the songs (missing from the Playlists) appear on your iPhone, under Artists, Songs Albums or Genres?
  3. Have you set iTunes to Sync the music, or are you using Manually Manage?
