How do I move my copy from 1 screen to another

I am trying to cut and paste and I cannot get my text from 1 screen to another,obviously I am a newbie so be gentle with me!!

Select the text you want to copy, by starting at one corner and holding the mouse/trackpad till you have the text you want highlighted. Press Command+C (Copy). Go to the destination window, use Command+V to Paste the text.

I can't sen to get to the destination window I guess I am just stupid !!!

Once you have copied the text that you need, click on the destination window, and then use Paste.
