Question

is my battery completely gone now?

my 2009 MBP has been playing up for a while now, the battery has needed servicing for a while.

I've just had to replace the hdd but now it seems the battery has finally given up the ghost...

Can someone confirm this... Photo attached below.

Also - whilst reinstalling the OS and upgrading I kept having RAM errors and having to restart the process, could that really have gone too?! I've taken a lot of care of my MBP so can't understand why it's all going to pot all of a sudden!

And another...

I've seen cheap batteries on eBay but I'm sure they'll blow up my laptop - is there a good UK supplier? And how easy is it to install? I've replaced the HDD so if it's anything like that I'll be fine!!

you can buy genuine apple batter off ebay from trusted seller or from apple centered online shops like owc

yes, it’s easy to install

The batteries are supposed to last a nominal 1000 cycles. I think you may be entitled to a replacement from Apple at no cost because the battery is failing prior to its expected life. However, to find out you will need to take it to an Apple Store or local Apple vendor.

And, they are easy to install.

If that is the original battery, you have been most fortunate that it has lasted that long. After 5 years of service I replace a battery in my MBP. An old battery can expand, and if not caught in time can severely damage the MBP. There are discussions on these forums attesting to that phenomenon.
