iTunes store does not allow hiding purchases/downloads

I am unable to hide purchased items in the iTunes store. I am following Apple's official directions here: Hide and unhide purchases in iTunes or iBooks on your Mac or PC - Apple Support. I'm running the most current version of iTunes (12.2.2.25) on OS X Yosemite (10.10.5). When I hover my cursor over apps or other items, no X appears in the corner.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?
