logic pro 9 sound library on external hard drive

Hi, I have logic pro 9 installed on my SSD with all additional content, I also have an external 1tb drive that I would like to use to store the whole sound library including samples and loops. (30-40GB)

Will installing the sound library on my 5400 rpm hard drive slow logic pro down?
