iomega 250 zip drive problem

I have been trting to transfer files from my old g3 system ( I have a scanner attached). My iomega 100 zip works fine, I want to copy bigger files so I got a 250 zip drive. Doesn't work, all I get are black exec files, not image files when I attach the zip to my iMac. The zip internal drive doesn't work in the old G3 so I got the external drive. I plug it into the usb and it copies fine. But it won't transfer the right files when I plug it into iMac. HELP

Did you correctly partition and format the new Zip disks for the Mac?

When I bought the drive, used online, (seems to work fine) it came with 2 250m zip discs. Not sure how to format them, but I don't think that the problem. I can copy the image files (on the g3) on the zip, unplug it, plug back in, and it reads on the G3. When I plug the drive into my iMac, it just has the exec files.

It can't hurt to open Disk Utility and check out how the Zip disks are prepared. If they have a Windows format then that may cause the problem you see.

What type of image files are these - .jpgs, pngs, etc.?

Hi Kappy and thank you for trying to help, I just tried it again and got the same result. the iMac interprets the image jpg files as exec files. how do I check the disk utility for formatting?

Open Disk Utility, select the Zip disk from the sidebar. It should be the indented entry under the Zip's main out-dented entry. The status area will tell you how it is formatted. Select the out-dented area to determine if it uses GUID or MBR.
