With my iMac (purchased 4/9/08) and Safari (10.6.8) it recently requires a long time to reach any site.

With my iMac (purchased 4-9-08, 2.4 Ghz intel core 2 Duo, 2GB memory, OX10.6.8) it recently requires a long time to reach any new site. What is the cause. A bug? What is solution?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)

Check the disk :

since you run Mountain Lion, restart while holding CMD+R keys, this starts the Recovery Partition, open DiskUtility, do VerifyDisk:

if it finds anything at all:

do RepairDisk, then restart normally and do backups immediately, even when the repair disk has succeeded to repair correctly.

Prepare for a new disk

Note: if you do not find anything wrong at all on the disk when verifying: two GB ram will certainly help.
