Does Apple recycle old computers?

Hi:

I got a new MacBook Pro.

I have two questions regarding my old MacBook Pro (which died after 8 or 10 wonderful years and was not fixable).

1. Besides the Hard Drive, which I removed physically, is there any other part of the old computer I need to remove or destroy in order to be sure my data and personal info is not out there and obtainable via the old computer?

2. Does Apple accept and recycle old computers? Mine is pretty mangled so nothing is salvageable except raw materials.
