Ipod Classic 160gb won't sync after 12.2.2 update.

I recently updated my itunes to the 12.2.2 version. However, yesterday during the sync, itunes asked me to setup my new ipod. Thinking this was a bug, I closed itunes and disconnected my ipod classic only to find that my 5000+ songs and all my movies had been deleted. Now when I try to open itunes it gives me this message: The software required for communicating with Ipods and mobile devices was not installed correctly. Do you want Itunes to try and repair this for you?
After clicking yes, a message from my computer pops up, asking me to authorize the program to run. Nothing happens after that, and when I reopen itunes and connect my ipod, it does not show up, although my ipod says it is connected.

My computer is originally a Windows 7, but I updated it to Windows 10.

Is there a way to fix this so I can continue using my ipod?

Do you have Norton AV installed? If so it seems to be causing trouble with iTunes and non-iOS devices for some people. Try temporarily disabling it.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

If the issue persists and you have a 64-bit system try the for older video cards version which is a 64-bit installer for mostly 32-bit code, similar to all 64-bit versions of iTunes up to 12.1.
