How do I use my camera as a web cam
I have a mac book pro from 2009. I recently registered for an online course and need a web cam. How do I use the camera on my computer as a web cam?
MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2008), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

what happens why you try to use webcam on that site?
I have not tried. I was just told I need to have web cam capabilities and am not sure if I do. I know I have a camera but am not sure what application I would use to have it work as a web cam or if I can.I am not technologically savvy so I am not sure quite how it works. Thanks for trying to help.
What software is being used for the class? it may already support your built-in camera. If not, you may be able to add an inexpensive USB camera that IS supported.
Since you are enrolling to an online course, you should ask them what configuration & hardware is needed.
Ask them, what works and since there are many web cam available. You can search the Internet for choices.
Thank you. They did not share what software they will be using. I guess my net step would be to start with asking the software question and then figuring out whether or not it is compatible. Again, thanks so much.
most of online courses is using flash translation – facetime camera in macbooks fully supporting that feature of flash
Thanks again. The issue is that I never previously downloaded the Facetime app and now it is telling me my OSX version (10.10.4) is too new. Any suggestions?
FaceTime app came with the Mac OS X. The app you downloaded is for older OS X.
You are right ... its right on my Doc!! Thank you again for all of your help!
You're welcome.
