how do I open a doc.js file?

I have received zipped files and when opened, they are doc.js files. I have looked online and this is a javascript apparently, and not sure if there is a utility that can open it.

You can open it with TextEdit or the free TextWrangler from the App Store.

What did they do, hand you a doc.js file? Where did you get it online? .js is a javascript file. It contains client side code. It does you no good to open it with a text editor unless you are a programmer and will make changes to the code. Typically a javascript file is called by a web page to perform some logic resulting in page content displayed in your browser.
