Q: wireless keyboard battery level and magic mouse query

Hi,

I use a refurbished iMac 21.5", built late 2013, OS X Yosemite 10.10.15, in operation for close to three months.  The issue in question is as follows:

Compared to the reading by "Dock Battery" the wireless keyboard's battery level as displayed in system preferences appeared to be correct during the first four weeks or so of use when battery depletion was indicted at 96%.  Ever since, the level displayed in system preferences has reverted back to 100% while Dock Battery now shows a diminished charge at 73%, which, I suppose, could be correct given usage and the time elapsed.  Whence the strange reading in system preferences and its discrepancy from Dock Battery?  Can this be fixed?  Any idea anyone?

Also, Magic Mouse is responding too slow (click as well as tracking) to play a decent game of Mahjong.  In this respect, the wired mouse was way better!  Any help for this?

Thank you!

DWD

I can't help with Dock Battery, but I wouldn't assume it is right.  You should ask Dock Battery tech support for an answer.  I trust Apple's readings.

Magic Mouse can be adjusted by Apple Menu > System Preferences > Mouse  There is a slider for tracking speed which I like at 4/5 of fastest.  You're preference will likely be different.  There is no setting for double click speed.  My mouse can take it as fast as I can deliver it.  If you feel both are unusually slow, you might try rebooting or unpairing an repairing.

Correction, here is the article for adjusting double click speed.  I've never adjusted mine but it is an option.

    Thanks for your reply.

I don't agree on seeking the fault with Dock Battery as system preferences/keyboard clearly shows inconsistent reading: first 100 than 96 than 92 than again 100%.  This can't be right.

But thanks for the tip on adjusting magic mouse settings (which, by the way, I have already maxed (tracking) in system preferences' mouse settings).  I'll look into it more.

The procedure referred to in linked article doesn't work for me.  What machine are you using?  In my system prefs, mouse, track pad, and keyboard are separate and there's no such thing as "Universal Access".  Moreover, I have maxed magic mouse settings already.

Sorry guy.  That was an article for Lion OS X.  For Yosemite, it is Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad.
