Trackpad and wired mouse won't left click on iMac

How do I get the left click back on my iMac, doesn't work on trackpad or wired mouse. I have read some fixes about going to the LIbrary preference and deleting the bluetooth file but I can't do anything. I have rebooted twice with no change. Please help my daughter's homework is being held hostage on this machine.
