AppleCare Protection Plan shipping questions

Did anyone order their AppleCare Protection Plan along with their MBP at the same time? I ordered both on 10/31 and my credit card was immediately charged the three hundred plus dollars for the plan and I received an invoice, although with no shipping information.

The computer itself has already shipped and my cc has been charged for the remaining balance. The funny thing is today I received an email shipment notification (same order #) with a totally different tracking number than the laptop. The FedEx site shows it's a ground shipment coming out of Carol Stream, IL bound for Dearborn, MI. The thing is, I'm in San Antonio, TX!

Anybody have any insight into how the AppleCare Protection Plan is shipped?

Once you get your computer, register it via the Apple website > Support. You will see the link to register AppleCare there. You can also download the TechTools program.

Your shipping question probably start by calling FedEx to confirm that that shipment is indeed yours. You may have to call Apple if there is any confusion. I am assuming you ordered direct from Apple? If not then a call to that vendor would be next.

If you ordered the "auto-enroll" version of AppleCare, the order is processed immediately and your machine is registered when it's shipped to you. You can verify this by entering your serial number on the main support page to see how long it's covered.

About two or three weeks after the machine is shipped, you'll receive your AppleCare proof of coverage certificate along with the terms booklet by mail.

(I know because I went through this process with my first MacBook Pro which I just replaced this week by a Core 2 Duo model. I'm now going through the same process with the new MBP.)

Okay, this makes sense then. I queried my serial number that was on my invoice and it is showing that Apple Care is active.

But the thing I still don't get is that other tracking number. I've been tracking the laptop from Shanghai since Friday so I'm wondering what is being shipped with this other tracking number. My first thought was maybe it's Apple internal documents going to Dearborn, MI for processing (i.e. the AppleCare plan). I guess I should just email someone at Apple about this.
