Why is the auto-renewal button not working?

I am trying to turn off auto-renewal for an app subscription.

I have located the auto-renewal on/off switch in the app store but when I swipe it to turn it to 'off', nothing happens.

The button is visible and it's not greyed out or disabled, it's just not responding to my swipe.

I'm using the iPhone from which I started the subscription.

I started the subscription 4 days ago, but I only want to pay for one month.

Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.2
