HOW TO UPDATE TO 10.2.1

I have a previously installed version of 10.1.4 on my computer. I want to update to version 10.2.1. When i try it tells me that i have a previously installed version. I don't know if i need to uninstall the previous version or what to do. Im new to the world of macs.
