Some preview images in Photos are blurry, some are sharp

Many of the preview images in Photos are blurry, while some are sharp. The underlying images are fine. If I duplicate a blurry one, the resulting preview is sharp. I tried repairing the Photos library and that didn't help. I'm using Photos 1.0.1 on my MacBook Air 2012 with 8 GB of RAM. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5

Here's what a blurry one looks like next to the duplicate I made of the same image:

there have been two major upgrades and many updates since this thread went dormant - it would be best to start a new thread with the details of what you have and what you are seeing - the general answer for thumbnail problems was and still is rotate them and rotate them back as posted in this thread two years ago which have worked for thousands of people - How to Rebuild Thumbnails in a Photos Library

Interesting suggestion, Larry. Although, we shouldn't have to do that to make it work, but it resulted in even stranger behavior. Maybe someone will be able to understand this. I tried rotating two photos that were next to each other in an album and one of them cleared up. When I rotated just the other one, they went back to blurry. Here it is step by step:

Start:

1. Rotated right picture clockwise cleared up the left picture:

2. Rotated right picture counter-clockwise - no change:

3. Rotated left picture clockwise - no change:

Does that make any sense to anyone? Are there any more suggestion for how to fix this? Thanks!

Thanks Larry.

Yeah, that's what I would have thought, too! That's what I tried first and it didn't change anything... I did play around a bit more with rotating images since my last post and I found that if I do a large group of them, it does seem to fix them, but it's a very slow process because if I've included a video in the group of selected images, the option to rotate them is not available, so then I have to search each image to see if it's a video. I don't see a way to make a selection and exclude videos or to NOT show videos... but even so, it's a lot of pictures and would take a while. There must be a better way. Maybe I should just try again to rebuild the database...

I'm still open to suggestions if anyone has another idea!

Thanks!
