Is there a fix for re-establishing bluetooth keyboard and mouse after shutting down?

Hi all,

So, I have a 2015 Macbook Pro running latest OSX connected to two external monitors(via display port and hdmi port) when seated at my desk. I've connected Apple wireless keyboard and mouse via bluetooth and all works fine. Problem is when I leave desk to use as laptop on the road and come back, I lose the ability to establish connection with keyboard and mouse. I have to delete them from bluetooth preferences and re-establish them all over every time I return to my desk. While not difficult, it is annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
