iCloud Drive is a place to store documents for use across various platforms, see: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201104


iCloud backup is a backup of the contents of an iOS device, such as your iPad, or iPhone. It is not intended to be a backup location for the contents of an entire computer's hard drive, though. That volume of material is too large.
