How to create contact on iPhone into a specific group

Hi,

On my iPhone 6 with iOS 8.4.1, how do I create a new contact and place it in a specific group? I have several groups that I store in iCloud as a backup. One of those groups contains all my active contacts (the ones I use regularly). In my contacts on iPhone, I only show the "active" group, all other groups are synced but I do not show them. When I create a new contact on my iPhone, the contact goes into "All iCloud contacts" but I want to store it in the "active" group instead. I don't want to see it in the All contacts group, because that would also display my old, inactive contacts.
