Thunderbolt Firmware 1.2 continues to appear. It doesn't seem to install property. any suggestions?

I have downloaded the Thunderbolt Firmware 1.2 as suggested. The Firmware says that it has been installed but it keeps reappearing and asking me install it. During the restart process the computer never fully restarts. The grey screen appears but then the computer shuts down. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Failure of a firmware update can be caused by some Thunderbolt or FireWire peripherals. Disconnect all such devices and try again. If you have a portable computer, the AC adapter must be connected during the update.
