It's your connection to your ISP that's the problem, not your router.

This is not quite so.. 2.4ghz in apple routers is always set to limited speed. 150Mbps link speed in the old models like Gen3.


That is link speed and due to the nature of wireless.. you will do lucky to get 50Mbps out of that.


The 300Mbps link speed on 5ghz is only usable close up.. ie patch cord distance.. Still limited to about 100Mbps max.. and rapidly fades away.


Use ethernet and see.. turn all wireless off.. if you cannot get the speed out of ethernet then the AE is old and tired and needs replacement.. it is about 6 years old.
