Cleaning up after uninstalling Parallel

I have a Mac book Pro (OS X Yosemite) which i used to have parallel installed on, few days back i uninstalled Parallel and removed all windows related folder and the VM. I also installed the new Office for Mac 2016, the problem is when ever i open a word document it open it as a word document running on parallel (with the word icon that has two red lines), how i can get rid of that so i can work on my office for Mac only.

It doesn't sound like you actually uninstall Parallels fully. You should investigate that.

Select an Office Document in the Finder. Get Info (cmd-i). In the Open With popup menu, choose the appropriate Office application. Click Change All…

Repeat for other Office document Types.

Basically says to just trash the Parallels app. However,

near the bottom of the article, it shows a .zip file that when extracted

and executed will uninstall all remnants of Parallels.
