network searching problem in iphone 4s...it continuously show 'searching' and 'no service'

whenever i check the carrier by manual search in carrier, it shows the list of operators and when i select the operator...it shows the "correct tick mark" but it doesn't register it...and continuosly shows ""no service"...so please please help me.......
