Ive subscribed to iTunes match as I was running out of disk space. Some songs I have have downloaded to iTunes from my CD collection have a faint cloud next to them (when I checked it means 'waiting'). But I am now unable to play these songs at all. Can anyone help?

I understand that you're using iTunes Match and some songs have the "Waiting" status icon next to them. You can update iTunes Match to start or resume the process of matching your songs.
If you're using iTunes 12.2 or later, go to the drop down menu File > Library > Update iCloud Music Library. If you're using a previous version of iTunes, go to Store > Update iTunes Match. Take a look at the article below for more details:
