Because the version on the App Store requires 10.10. I'm not sure what answer you're hoping for here, but mor einformation might get more help.
Thanks for your quick response Terence!
I've read the following article from apple KB: iPhoto and Aperture: Using Photo Stream - Apple Supporthttps://support.apple.com/de-de/HT201324
... If you are using an earlier version of iPhoto 9:
If you purchased iPhoto on the Mac App Store, or if it was preinstalled on your computer along with OS X Lion (or later) , you can update iPhoto on the Mac App Store.
...
but this doesn't work anymore.
any ideas?
You're a bit late to the races I'm afraid. Since then, Apple no longer develop iPhoto. To get the current version you would need to update the OS to v10.10 (which is free).
that's exactly the problem, I CAN'T upgrade to 10.10. It's an old Mac mini which is only supported until 10.7 :-(.
The latest version of iPhoto you can get and use with 10.7.5 is iPhoto 9.4.3. You'll need to get iPhoto 9.0 and update to 9.4.3.
To get iPhoto 9.xx purchase a copy of the iLIfe 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com. That will install iPhoto 9.0 and you can get to 9.4.3 vis these updaters:
1 - update to iPhoto 9.2.1
2 - update to iPhoto 9.3
3 - update to iPhoto 9.3.2
4 - update to iPhoto 9.4
5 - and finally to iPhoto 9.4.3
Hey Old Toad,
Thanks for your response. I bought iPhoto at the AppStore after buying the Lion upgrade. So why should I buy another copy of it with iLife 11? Isn't there any other chance to get my purchased iPhoto running on my Lion machine?
Did you purchase iPhoto '11 (version 9.z.z) - if not and if you want iphoto '11 then you have to purchase it - upgrades form iphoto '08 or earlier to iphoto '11 are purchases - updates (the first digit does not change) are free
SO you do what you want but if you do not own any version of iphoto'11 then you can not upgrade to it for free
LN
Each major up grade, iPhoto 6 to iPhoto 7 or 7 to 8 or 8 to 9 is a paid upgrade. Updates, like iPhoto 8.0 to 8.1.2 are free.
So you have iPhoto 8.1.2 and if you want to get to iPhoto 9 you'll need to purchase a iLife 11 disk.
