Thanks for getting back to me.

I realise this of course as I have been using apple systems of all sorts now for nearly 20 years.

My specific problem this time seems to be that the AppleTV really is a dud.  Brand new out of the wrapping and it will not place an image on the screen of the HD TV through the HDMI 1 port of the TV.

I am stuck as the documentation re the purchase is back in Australia and I am in Germany for 2 months, hence no warranty service.

It is probably not though worth buying another Version 3 model of the Apple TV as a new one may be announced any day now.

    Raymond
